Download for Windows

Apple Silicon means an M-series Mac. An Intel Mac download is not available here yet. This package passed checks on macOS 15 and 26; macOS 27 preview is not yet qualified.

On a Mac, three steps.

  1. Open the ZIP.

Double-click the downloaded .zip file in Finder to extract the app.

  2. Move to Applications.

Drag the extracted Rex Architect app into your Applications folder.

  3. Start a project.

Open Rex Architect from Applications, sign in to Rex, and choose a sample project.

Install from Terminal on a Mac.

Paste this command into Terminal. The installer verifies the download and signing identity, preserves your previous app, and opens Rex. Quit Rex before updating.

curl -fsSL https://re-x.ai/download/install-macos.sh | /bin/sh

Review or download the installer script

For AI chat, you also need Node.js 22 or later and Codex CLI for ChatGPT, or Claude Code for Claude. Use the provider menu in Rex for setup and sign-in.

On Windows, three steps.

  1. Run the installer.

Close Revit, then open the downloaded .exe. The installer is not signed yet: if Windows says it protected your PC, choose More info, then Run anyway.

  2. Keep the defaults.

Rex installs for your Windows user only, with the Rex add-in for each Revit 2025, 2026 or 2027 on the PC.

  3. Start a project.

Open Rex Architect from the Start menu, sign in, and choose a sample project. In Revit, choose Always Load for the RexBridge add-in the first time.

Or install from the command line on Windows.

In PowerShell (no administrator rights needed). It downloads the installer, checks its SHA-256 and installs Rex for your Windows user:

Use ChatGPT or Claude inside Rex.

Rex works with your own ChatGPT or Claude plan through their command-line tools. You need:

  • Node.js 22 or later, for Rex's tools.
  • ChatGPT: Codex CLI 0.163.0 or later, signed in with your ChatGPT account (an API key is not used).
  • Claude: Claude Code, signed in with your Claude account.

Install them (on a Mac, use the Terminal and install Node.js from nodejs.org), then open a new window so the commands are found:

winget install --id OpenJS.NodeJS.22 -e
npm install -g @openai/codex # ChatGPT (Codex CLI)
npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code # Claude (Claude Code)
codex login # choose Sign in with ChatGPT
claude # sign in once, then type /exit

If Rex says something is wrong

"This connection needs Codex CLI 0.163.0 or later"

Check which version Rex finds, and update it:

codex --version
npm install -g @openai/codex@latest

Then quit Rex completely and open it again. If it still says so, an older copy of Codex is found first. See every copy:

where.exe codex # Windows
which -a codex # Mac

Rex uses the first one listed. Remove the older copy (for example winget uninstall --id OpenAI.Codex if you installed it with winget, or delete that file), or move npm's folder (%APPDATA%\npm on Windows) to the top of your PATH. Then run codex --version again: it should show 0.163.0 or later.

"Codex CLI is not installed" or "Claude Code is not installed"

Install it with the commands above, then quit Rex completely and open it again: Rex only sees programs that were installed before it started. On Windows, where.exe codex (or where.exe claude) must print a path.

"Rex's tools need Node.js 22 or later"

Run node --version. If it is below v22 or not found, install Node.js 22 (winget install --id OpenJS.NodeJS.22 -e, or nodejs.org), open a new window, and restart Rex.

Rex says you are not signed in to ChatGPT or Claude

Run codex login and choose Sign in with ChatGPT, or run claude once and sign in. Rex uses your plan's sign-in, not an API key. Then choose Start again in Rex.

This is a development preview. AI features require an account or a supported AI connection. Revit integration runs on Windows. Mac updates are installed by downloading the next version.
